bio-img1Robert Sarkisian, Founder, President & Chair Man

The heart and soul of the Nantucket Beach Chair Company, Robert manages every aspect of the family-run business, from design and manufacturing to sales and distribution. A year-round resident of Nantucket. Originally from Natick, Massachusetts, Robert also has been a broker with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Island Properties since 2004 and has spent the last 23 years calling Nantucket home. The former General Manager of the island’s 21 Federal restaurant, Robert prides himself on offering a high level of customer service, honesty and integrity.  Volunteering in the community he loves,  is on the Board of Directors and Vice President for the Nantucket Chamber of Commerce. In 2014 he received the Chamber’s Ambassador of the Year Award; in 2015 he was recognized with the organization’s Achievement of Merit Award. A Brother Mason and the Junior Warden at Union Lodge, F&AM, he received the 2015 Brother of the Year Award.  He also serves as Moderator at the First Congregational Church.  Moreover, Robert serves on the Spiritual Heritage Nantucket Board helping to build and encourage the Christian Community.  As a former Board Chair, President and Trustee of the Nantucket Lighthouse School, Robert still serves on the school’s Board of Advisors.  Most recently, as founder and co-chair of Nantucket License Plate, an organization sponsored by the Nantucket Lighthouse School that supports non-profits on the island that benefit children, Robert was instrumental in this effort for raising nearly $600,000 for Nantucket’s youth through this license plate program. He continues to support children by mentoring as a Big Brother.  In 2015 Nantucket’s Inquirer and Mirror newspaper named him one of “Nantucket’s Brightest Stars” for making island life a whole lot better. In 2016, Nantucket Today magazine named him as one of ten individuals who make a difference on Nantucket.  Robert is a graduate of The Ohio State University, Fisher College of Business.

bio-img2Sarkis Sarkisian, Co-Founder & Design Engineer

A retired engineer with over 35 years of experience, Sarkis used his design and sourcing expertise to help his son create “the Ultimate Nantucket Beach Chair.” When he’s not conceiving design refinements or new chair models, he can often be found in the workshop happily assembling chairs for shipment to customers. A Korean Conflict veteran, Sarkis holds an Associate’s Degree in Electronics from Northeastern University, and a B.S. in Engineering from Wentworth Institute of Technology.
